Your Body Needs Water

Are You Drinking Enough Water?

Did you know experts recommend women drink roughly 11 cups of water per day? Drinking enough water each day is essential to our overall health. Water regulates body temperature, keeps joints lubricated, prevents infections, delivers nutrients to cells, and keeps organs functioning properly. Here are some tips for staying hydrated throughout the day.

5 Tips for Increasing Your Fluid Intake

  1. Have a glass of water or juice first thing after waking up.

  2. Drink constantly throughout the day. It may be helpful to set reminders throughout the day using your phone or smart device.

  3. Fluids are more easily absorbed from the body when they are somewhat cooler, about 40-60 degrees. Keep a one- or two-quart bottle of water in your refrigerator, and make sure you drink and refill it daily.

  4. Carry a water bottle with you and drink regularly between meals.

  5. When exercising, drink one to two cups of fluid 30 minutes before you begin.

Adding Flavor

Do you get tired of plain water? We recommend trying one of the combinations below for a delicious and refreshing alternative. To infuse water, you can use mason jars loaded with fresh fruits, veggies, and herbs. You may also want to consider purchasing a pitcher with a built-in infuser to add flavor without the seeds and pulp. You can even add fresh fruit to ice cubes molds then pop them into water bottles and glasses.
